HAPPY 80th BIRTHDAY to Ms. NICHELLE NICHOLS!

The “original” Lt. Uhura, a pioneer for women and particularly women of color in the predominantly white male world of television, Nichelle broke ground for playing a strong female character who was not cast in a menial role (e.g. maid) as was the case for so many other African-American women at that time.  She was and still is an inspiration.
